The lovely Stargazing proved that Alpha could quietly triumph with moody, but mainstream pop songs. Here, it's all about instrumental chillscapes which offer much more interest than similar work by their peers. "Motor City" for instance, takes the form of guitar-based, shoegazing dream pop, but does it with lush strings and keyboards washes. Familiar, yet so alien.
