Description of Grunge-Pop

 
More likely to get airplay on adult alternative radio than its forefather, Grunge Pop lies on the smoothly-crafted, pop-influenced end of the Grunge spectrum. Bands like the Verve Pipe, Matchbox 20, and Poster Children scored huge hits in the late 1990s, giving new life to a style of music that most had left for dead along with its apostle, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain. Grunge Pop lacks the rage and visceral energy of early '90s Grunge, trading in its angst for emotive, slickly produced vocals over loud guitars.
