Amber Pacific

About

This Seattle pop-punk quartet first started out as a high school band with the inspirational name Follow Through. Searching for a new name to avoid legal conflict, the musicians matched up words from two different lists and liked the ring of Amber Pacific. They recorded what became the energetic Fading Days EP and were signed to Hopeless Records. That was enough to get them added to the lineup of 2004's Warped Tour. However, faced with the choice between hitting the road and college, their founding drummer decided to quit the band. They picked their current drummer, Dango, after trying out only three other skinbeaters. After their heavy-duty stint on Warped's "Take Action" stage, they recorded their debut full-length, The Possibility and the Promise. It was released in 2005 and was shortly followed by another summer on the Warped Tour circuit. Things were going well until guitarist and cofounder Justin Westcott announced that he was leaving the band, explaining that he wanted to "go back to school and pursue his life as a pastor." Amber Pacific currently is carrying on with vocalist Matt Young, Will Nutter (the only original member left) on guitar, bassist Greg Strong and Dango on the drums.
