A darkly moody album that actually works best when Bey, a vocal jazz veteran, sticks to the beautifully lugubrious downers. Bey's stunning readings of Nick Drake's "River Man" and Strayhorn's "Pretty Girls" are twin highpoints to this deep, emotionally rich album.
