When the Anti-Nowhere League crawled out of their hole in the early 1980s, they confirmed what was already on everyone's lips: Punk was dead. They appropriated Punk fashion and chutzpah merely for the sake of lending their campy, pornographic slag a bit of street cred. Listen to "Streets of London" and "So What" -- behind the bloated guitar chords and lead singer Animal's vile diatribes, the sound of Punk's death rattle is unmistakable. Despite the utterly ludicrous premise of the band, they appear to have left a brief impression on Metallica, who covered them. They were also a major influence on G.G. Allin. Surprise, surprise.
