Art Blakey

Blakey was famous for putting together great bands and this 1960 session features one of his all-time best ensembles. The drummer is joined by Wayne Shorter (who also contributes three numbers), Lee Morgan and pianist Bobby Timmons, on an alternately relaxed and frenetic hard bop set. Seamless group dynamics topped by stellar soloing from the entire crew.
