With new singer Max Carl, this eighth effort for the Southern/stadium rock hybrid group produced its highest charting single, "Second Chance," which made it to No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary charts. With a gently pulsing synth-bass rhythm, slightly delayed guitars and vocals that sound like an almost-perfect Steve Perry impersonation, the song is simply definitive of the '80s. That's not necessarily a bad thing -- chances are you'll bring the house down singing it in a karaoke bar. The song was made for that.
