Joey Calderazzo's excellent playing makes you think of Herbie Hancock's solo albums of the '60s -- creative, lush chording, stellar Post Bop solos, and original arrangements all in a hard-swinging package marked by excellent musicianship. After getting his start in Michael Brecker's band in the '80s, Calderazzo has put out solo albums that get better with each release.
