KIDZ BOP Kids
BiographyRazor and Tie's bizarre, faceless conglomeration of anonymous kid singers releases albums at a dizzying pace -- sometimes as often as every few months -- combing the current chart hits for inspiration. How they reproduce these hits varies: sometimes the Kidz shout the chorus as the original track plays in the background; sometimes they shout along to a digital recreation of the original. The scheme's legality is fairly questionable -- does Usher know he appears on Kidz Bop 8? Besides, the song choices can be head-scratchingly weird. Hearing a bunch of 10 year-olds scream, "Where's my candy? Where's my cream?" behind Baby Bash's lascivious rap on Frankie J's "Obsession" -- or singing along to Britney Spear's "Toxic" or Outkast's "Hey Ya" -- raises both aesthetic and ethical questions. Nevertheless, the series is popular with the kids as it brings chart hits down to their level.
