Biography

A pioneering emcee representing Roxbury, Mass., Edo G (along with his crew Da Bulldogs) was arguably the first emcee to put long-neglected Boston on the hip-hop map. His excellent debut, 1991's Life of a Kid in the Ghetto, sported stellar production and positive lyrics, including the quintessential paternal anthem "Be A Father To Your Child." Several singles furthered his rep, and he scored a nationwide hit with "I Got To Have It." Unfortunately, label drama hampered the follow-up, Roxbury, 02119. Edo G. resurfaced with an EP in '96, and kept his career alive with numerous 12"s and collaborations. In 2001 he released his long-awaited full-length "The Truth Hurts."
