Above & Beyond
Known for their melodic, anthemic brand of dance music, Above & Beyond are a powerful force in the global trance scene. Consistently ranked in the top five of DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs Poll, the British trio runs its own label, Anjunabeats, and broadcasts a weekly radio show, Trance Around the World, both of which have cemented the group's status as tastemakers within the scene. The trio of Tony McGuinness, Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamaki came together in 2000, when McGuinness, a marketing director at Warner Brothers, was tasked with commissioning a remix of Chakra's "Home." They quickly moved on to remixes for Madonna, Dido and Britney Spears, and in 2002, they established their own style of melodic, uplifting trance with their debut single, "Far from Love." In addition to their many mix CDs, they have recorded the full-length albums Tri-State and Sirens of the Sea -- the latter, a more downtempo affair, was released under their OceanLab alias.
