The Early Years
Acid King
Released:
Nov 2006
Label:
Small Stone Records
Combining Acid King's 1994 self-titled EP with the debut full-length released a year later, The Early Years effectively introduces Lori S.'s double-stuffed fuzz orgy of psychedelic guitar and spaced-out witch vocals. The band may have gotten better with later releases, but "Blasting Cap" and the Saint Vitus-worthy opener "Lead Paint" (both from the EP) are closer to the heaviness to come than the somewhat disreputable stoner rock they were associated with in the beginning. You can actually hear Lori S.'s amplifier crackling in agony on "Lead Paint."
