Released: Sep 1995

With Acid King's dinosaur-slow tempos and Wino-loving vocals, the band's Melvins connection would be obvious even if founder Lori S. had not married their drummer Dale Crover. The San Franciscan stoner-metal band's first full-length, 1995's Zoroaster, while steeped in the sacred moves of Black Sabbath, is undeniably tainted by the stoner rock and grunge metal of its time (think Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet and so on). That said, opener "Evil Satan," second cut "If I Burn" and the endlessly satisfying sound of double-tracked, de-tuned guitars massaging your ears make up for it.
