Psychedelic Essentials is one generic title, but that doesn't matter, because it serves as the perfect introduction to one of the great unknown hard rock bands of the love generation. Emerging from Chile's then-fertile counterculture (which dissolved in the wake of the 1973 military coup), Aguaturbia melted acid rock, fuzz soul, bluesy boogie and proto-metal into a sound that was as erotic as it was heavy and pummeling. Lead singer Denise Corales has pipes to rival those of Grace Slick and Robert Plant; plus she loves to employ the aural orgasm: moaning, cooing, gasping, wailing, etc.
