You may not know her name, but this is Aimee Allen's third album. In some ways, A Little Happiness sounds very familiar, steeped as it is in the kind of sunkissed soul-pop Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat shill. But then Allen's Socal leanings take off in different directions (see: her ukulele'd cover of Sublime's "Santeria" and the Stefani-esque vocals throughout). In fact, the husky-voiced singer perpetually brings herself up to the brink of cloying, then slams on the breaks with an edgier concept ("Crazy") or a vocal dexterity that lets her pull ahead of the pack.
