Akwid are the workmen of Latin rap, toiling away at album after album of their distinctive regional/hip-hop fusion, watching with frustration as reggaeton blows up and flames out and blows up again. (Pop music is a frequent target on Clasificado R.) But their slow-and-steady-wins-the-race ethic has to be bearing fruit; the guys still have a record deal, and their cholo-meets-banda sound slides down the street to Zapp and Roger samples. The nearly eight-minute "S.W.A.T." slings bilingual vitriol at myopic pop radio stations and their 10-song playlists.
