Don't be fooled by the name - Alaska y Dinarama actually got their start in Spain. Singer Alaska (aka Olvido Gara) got her start in music when she formed the short-lived punk band Kaka de Luxe in 1978. A year later it was defunct, but Alaska teamed up with a new group, Los Pegamoides. In 1982 that group splintered into Paralisis Permanente and Dinarama. Deseo Carnal really launched the group in 1984, gaining the attention of filmmaker Pedro Almodovar and spawning several hits.
