Alison Brown

Alison Brown is a banjo player and guitarist known for her delicate nylon-string banjo playing. She got her first big break after a victory at the Canadian National Banjo Championship earned her an invite to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. In the early '90s Brown became the band leader for Michelle Shocked, which brought her wider national attention. She and her husband run the Small World Music label.
