Exuberantly depressed punk rock from the long-employed Chicagoans represents the unit's seventh studio effort, and their first for Epitaph. Folks who've been tuning in since the Asian Man Records days will be glad to hear singer/main dude Matt Skiba still writing punchy riffs even though he seems to be perpetually bummed about some girl. Such songs as "Draculina" and "Dead on the Floor" are good indicators of Alkaline Trio's knack for avoiding some of the pitfalls (vapid filler passed off as fun) of some modern punk-pop.
