Christian pop-rock has become such a huge business that its roots in the "Jesus movement" (hippies who found Christ in the early 1970s) are largely unknown, or worse, covered up. To spread the word of God via pop music was a totally strange idea back then. But Harps on Willows, a best-of collection, is proof of the genre's background. Ohio's All Saved Freak Band, featuring original James Gang guitarist Glenn Schwartz, sound more like the Doors or Nuggets-worthy garage rockers than devoted followers of the Good Book.
