This Icelandic quartet has accompanied Sigur Ros on many a tour -- and appeared on albums including Takk ... -- and the delicacy of the band's sound on this album belies an experimental bent better heard on the EP AnimaminA. These icy songs seem to hover on the surface of composition, rarely venturing beyond exploring the tonal possibilities of an impressive array of instruments: glockenspiels, wine glasses, early synthesizers and even saws. Yet their classical origins remain; the songs, as glacially paced as they are, accumulate power with the aid of cello, violin and viola.
