Amy Gilliom's first Christmas album came on the heels of a successful year, and it capped it beautifully. Gilliom sways through the season's classics, Hawaiian guitars sliding from note to note behind her with otherworldly finesse. The slack-key guitars may induce an almost Pavlovian desire for beach and palm trees, but to its credit, the album never slips into tourist kitsch. As a bonus, Gilliom sings mainly in Hawaiian.
