Domine Non Es Dignus
Anaal Nathrakh
Released:
Nov 2004
Label:
Season Of Mist
With references to Dylan Thomas ("Rage, Rage Against the Dying of the Light"), Nietzsche ("Revaluation of all Values") and 1984 ("Do Not Speak"), Anaal Nathrakh's third release goes a long way toward cementing their reputation as the most well-read black metal band ever -- or maybe the nerdiest. With such insanely fast guitars and relentless, eternally damned shrieking, it doesn't matter. The idea here is to bum out pretty much everyone. On top of the fever-dream blackened grindcore/kitchen-sink approach, the band pulls off Tuvan throat singing (!) in "Final Destruction of Dignity."
