Salsaton may not be long for this world, but you've got to admire Andy Montanez for trying. Salsa almost always gets the upper hand, forcing rappers such as Daddy Yankee, Voltio and Crooked Stilo into call-and-response exchanges with traditional back-up singers and always privileging Montanez's incomparable baritone. The many exciting tracks can't hide reggaeton's rhythmic rigidity, however, which Montanez wisely sublimates wherever possible with his own band's joyful swing.
