Annuals busted out of the indie rock gate with a debut that was charming, weird, pretty and sweet. Such Fun adds up all those adjectives and multiplies them, but then subtracts most of the weird. The result reveals a more pop-attuned band that still likes to fiddle with myriad sounds. "Confessor" rocks like a '90s Filter track, "Down the Mountain" foot-stomps and fiddles like a hoedown ditty, "Hardwood Floor" strums in the melancholy tune of a romantic drama and "Springtime" and "Hair Don't Grow" flutter with the quirky lushness of some of Arcade Fire's most grandiose songs.
