Released: Feb 2012
We don't want to reduce Anuhea to her home state, but this Maui girl's second album is positively sun-kissed by breezy acoustic guitars; thick, dubby reggae grooves; and, especially, Anuhea's own lovely voice, a warm, salty wave of an alto. The lady knows what's she's doing, though: her island grooves are carefully crafted, bolstered by smart/sensitive lyrics and flecked with bits of neo-soul, jazz, even a little Ke$ha-esque rapping ("Mr. Mellow"). In fact, this enveloping hug of an album only errs when it tries to veer too far from home, as on watered-down club pop track "I Wanna Be There."
