A New Jersey emcee affiliated with both the Flavor Unit MC's and Naughty By Nature, Apache had a major hit with his 1991 single "Gangsta Bitch." Propelled by playfully misogynistic lyrics, thumping beats, and an easily chantable chorus, the song remains a party-rocking classic. 1993's "Hey Girl" stuck to the same formula, with the addition of a slight reggae influence. Although his early works were quite successful, Apache was quiet for most of the '90s.
