An early project of Broken Social Scene guitarist Andrew Whiteman, Apostle of Hustle traffics in experimental pop and the Cuban tunings Whiteman learned while traveling in Havana. Members of Toronto's indie scene appear throughout, adding a collective, collaborative feel to the album. Any fan of the Arts & Crafts label or intricate, creative guitar playing will get sucked in by earthy, ethereal tunes like "Energy of Death" and "Song for Lorca."
