The Arctic Monkeys had a fantastic debut and surprised everyone by completely avoiding the sophomore slump with their equally strong second release. Then, Alex Turner crafted the sublime Last Shadow Puppets, a side project so sweet that it deserves full-time attention. He has the kind of talent, keen interest and stamina that many of his heroes possess -- Bowie and Paul Weller chief among them. It's yet to be determined if he can have their kind of long, interesting careers, but the muscular, lean and snotty lead-off single to the Monkeys' third effort shows that he's well on his way.
