Opening with a vaguely ethnic choral incantation (courtesy of Nadia Ali) that's part Gregorian chant, part Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Armin Van Buuren's Mirage doesn't mask its outsized sense of yearning. The popular trance producer sticks to the thumping tempos and spine-tingling synth rushes that earned him the top slot in DJ Mag's annual DJ poll, while relying on vocalists like Christian Burns and Sophie Ellis-Bextor to tip the material into the pop spectrum. Ferry Corsten, BT and Owl City's Adam Young round out the list of contributors.
