Originally released as the Virginia band's debut in 2004, A Celebration of Guilt is a hurtling freight train of technical death metal with perfectly mixed screech vocals. While the mathematically sound guitarwork and non-stop thrum of double-bass drumming are designed to, and successfully, grab the listener's attention, it's those vocals, courtesy of one James Malone (who also handles both the guitars and bass playing) that set these songs apart. The ferocity is apparent from the album's opening seconds, but things get really fun with "Seven Whispers Fell Silent."
