The Singer is an apt title. For while Paul Simon was always considered the genius, he would be the first to admit that his partner's crystalline voice was just as central to Simon & Garfunkel's success. This anthology begins with what is Garfunkel's greatest moment ("Bridge Over Troubled Water") and runs through his biggest solo hits; these include "All I Know," "I Only Have Eyes for You" and his smooth remake of Sam Cooke's "Wonderful World" featuring both Simon and James Taylor. Of equal value is the deep cut "99 Miles From L.A.," which in terms of '70s soft-rock is note-for-note perfection.
