Arthur Foote

Boston's Arthur Foote was a member of the so-called "Boston Six," a group of composers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries that also included George Whitefield Chadwick, Amy Beach, Edward MacDowell, John Knowles Paine and Horatio Parker. Unlike those of much of the generation of American composers that followed, Foote's works bear heavy influence from European romantic music and consist mostly of chamber music, choral pieces, piano music and art songs.
