Let Me Stay Up All Night

These N.Y.C.-based newgrass exponents have turned their considerable talents to family-friendly music. Be glad they did. The playing is stellar -- though it feels almost too polished on a track like "Drunken Sailor" -- and the original songs lean toward elementary-age concerns. Some are obvious: working out spelling confusion with "There Their They're" or begging in vain to stay up all night. Others are a bit more serious: "What is the true color of the sea?" the singer asks on the ecology-minded "Have It the Earth's Way," which asserts that we can make ugly shopping malls disappear at will.
