With Chris Cornell's fuming, testosterone-fueled vocals taking center stage, Audioslave's third album pours a bit more funk into their Zeppelin-meets-'90s-modern rock sound. Melodic crescendos are sprinkled throughout, with Tom Morello's punk/funk distortions and light-speed effects providing each track with its climactic punch. Revelations travels along a similar wavelength as their previous LPs, with a grungy and groovy spunkiness dominating the first half and Cornell's gloomier temperament subtly sliding through for a melodramatic closing.
