The triumphant return of one of death metal's premier offenders-of-everyone -- their last record, 1995's Sh*tfun was practically a concept album about, um, going to the bathroom -- 2011's Macabre Eternal has all the elements that made Autopsy's music an influential gurgle in the extreme metal scene of the '90s. Seemingly, Reifert and co. got all the hardcore out of their system with interim band Abscess, as all we have here are bludgeoning death metal riffs, trudging, doom-y moshes and Reifert's somehow intelligible, more-animal-than-man vocals.
