It figures that this would turn up on Red Bull Records, the label arm of the energy-drink maker. From the juiced-up rock drums and Zep-indebted howls to the fizzy synths and guitars, the debut album from Los Angeles' Awolnation is a perfect encapsulation of the company's amped-up brand. Despite the electronic touches, it scans more as rock than dance music, awash in bluesy riffs and fist-pumping beats; the vocals, meanwhile, nod to Styx, Queen and '00s pop-punk.
