Hard times often lead people back to the music of their youth. So maybe his divorce and a tragic foreign war had Babyface returning to such deep 1970's soft rock classics as "Fire and Rain," "Time In A Bottle" and "Knocking On Heavens Door." Or perhaps the man (a master singer-songwriter himself) just knows a great tune when he hears it. Either way, these covers honor the complex sentiments of the originals and Kenneth Edmonds even proves he can rock on the intense Dylan cover. Two new Babyface songs balance the covers and add further weight to the internal/external strife found in well-chosen source material.
