Fame And Fortune

Fame And Fortune by Bad Company
Released: Feb 2005
Label: Rhino/Elektra
Paul Rodgers was replaced by singer Brian Howe for this 1986 release from the veteran hard rock band. For longtime fans, it may not feel right to listen to a Bad Company record without Rodgers, but Howe's voice bears such strong similarities to his predecessor in both timbre and the ability to turn on the scratchiness at will that songs like opener "Burning Up" and the title cut might as well have come out in 1975. The '80s synths, saxophones (!) and Bon Jovi-like backing singers in "This Love" are unfortunate, though.
