Badi Assad

An exceptionally talented Brazilian guitarist who is equally talented as an improvising singer. Assad has won numerous awards and accolades for Brazilian jazz and classical music performed with technically flawless technique. Rather than contain her abilities to standard playing, Assad has been known to take chances, drawing unusual tones and rhythms from her guitar and occasionally crossing the line past virtuosity, performing a marimba solo with one hand while simultaneously delivering a syncopated guitar pattern with the other. When she decides to add her vocals, Assad often scats and emulates percussion instruments, evoking the skills of Bobby McFerrin.
