Grinning Streak

Grinning Streak by Barenaked Ladies
Released: Jun 2013
Barenaked Ladies are like alt-rock's favorite goofy uncles: weird, out-of-touch, hard to dislike, occasionally fun, always corny. But even on their second album without estranged co-leader Steven Page they manage a radio-ready professionalism. "Gonna Walk" starts sweet until they build to an irresistible whoa-oh bridge. Their rivalry with They Might Giants is reignited with "Off His Head," while "Boomerang"'s hook swoops in like Brad Paisley. "Limits" sounds conventional until the ragtime-cum-Elton piano solo, and Ed Robertson's rapping on "Odds Are" bears an eerie resemblance to Lana Del Rey.
