Following up 2009's Cozza Frenzy, Bassnectar's Lorin Ashton applies the lessons learned from nonstop touring to a set of supercharged bangers that might just be his heaviest work yet. Industrial-strength hip-hop beats meet corrosive jungle breaks, and throughout, dubstep's trademark "wobble" bass shudders like a chainsaw in an earthquake, tearing through Ellie Goulding's pop trance and Gogol Bordello's "Immigraniada." "Boomerang" pairs heavy metal guitars with moshed-up electronic beats, but the best tracks, like "Red Step" and "Upside Down," favor shimmy over bombast.
