The question that comes to mind with each new Beck release: is it the old, goony Beck or the new, introspective Beck? "Nausea" leans toward the mellow gold of his early days, with acoustic slide guitar and a monstrously funky back beat. But thanks to beefy production and Beck's manic delivery, those well-worn tropes sound fresh and raw. If anything, this first single from the upcoming The Information is the next logical step from Guero -- a good-footed step that keeps Beck in a league all his own.
