Released: Nov 2004
Label: Grp Records
Betty Carter was so unique that she was an invigorating vocal genre of one. Her pitch and tone were stronger in this early release (check out her nuanced reading of "There's No You") and it’s a treat to hear the usually nightclub bound Carter in a big band setting. The supple charts are by Richard Wess, who worked with such big shots as Bobby Darin and Sammy Davis Jr.
