This creatively rip-roaring Midwestern heavy rock quartet's sixth album would feel like a breakthrough if they hadn't had to go to Italy to put it out. They rule in Thin Lizzy mode -- blatantly in "Anytime," subtly in "Yer Boy" (who's "come back into town," get it?). But Motörhead, '70s Kiss and Chicago predecessors Urge Overkill are reference points too, plus there's a noisy sax solo. The raw throats could afford less congestion, but given themes extracting heroism from mundane urban-male nightlife, down-to-earth vocals probably make sense -- especially with high harmonies to help.
