From She & Him to Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan, pop music has produced numerous nostalgia duos over the past few years. We can now add to the list Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and crooner Norah Jones. Their debut full-length, a song-for-song reinterpretation of The Everly Brothers' 1958 set of folk standards Songs Our Daddy Taught Us, is a cool concept. Swaddled in musty reverb, with a spritely combo backing them, the pair gives these chestnuts a honky-tonk feel. It's fun stuff for sure, though British cult artist Holly Golightly explored this very sound in the mid '90s.
