Billy Stewart's direct, easy croon and high-pitched harmonies predated the Philly soul explosion of the 1970s. Songs like "I Do Love You" and "Sitting in the Park," both from 1965, are some of the finest examples of smooth soul. Stewart's vocal style was expressive and would often offer up bits of the scat style he knew from his early jazz-oriented days. Excellent stuff.
