The eighth album from Zakk Wylde's post-Ozzy swamp-metal project, Order of the Black finds the musician channeling a high-speed version of Jerry Cantrell, with wriggling riffs topped off by his trademark Southern-rock angle. Vocally, Wylde sounds like his old boss, especially on opener "Crazy Horse," which could have been on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and "Darkest Days," a "Goodbye to Romance"-like ballad. Wylde flexes his black-belt level of talent for hot licks all over the place here, but nowhere more openly than on "Black Sunday."
