Released: Jan 1964
Label: Blue Note
This 1964 set is Blossom Dearie's one album for Capitol Records, the one-time indie label that Nat "King" Cole, Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra helped turn into a major league powerhouse. While not up to the level of Blossom's sets for Verve, this one still works. Jack Marshall's mellow, but always swinging charts compliment Blossom's conversational vocals and low-key piano playing, and the haunting title track ranks up there with her all best. A number of West Coast jazzers play on this, including the trumpeter/actor Jack Sheldon, who Blossom was romancing at the time.
