The best songs from Blue Magic are ballads about circus performers. "Sideshow" is a freak show ("the saddest show in all the land") of weepy men and the women who collect their broken hearts. These romantic misanthropes are captured in cages and captioned by the production's soft tones as well as Wade Elliott's quivering voice. This classic tune is almost equaled by its sequel, "Three Ring Circus." This time Blue Magic put themselves in the cage as they lamented the hectic life of a music performer. "Tear It Down" is also great.
